Why We Need a Code of Conduct
The Code of Conduct ensures that South Pasadena Little League remains a positive, respectful, and safe environment for all players, coaches, and families. By setting clear expectations for behavior, we reinforce the values of sportsmanship, integrity, and teamwork. This helps create an enjoyable and supportive atmosphere where kids can grow both as athletes and as individuals.
Code of Conduct
Player/Parent Code of Conduct
South Pasadena Little League believes in instilling character ideals such as: good
sportsmanship, fair play, hard work, and respect for others. To that end, we feel that as
administrators and parents, it is imperative that we set good examples for the kids. Here
are some guidelines that all SPLL affiliated personnel must abide by.
- As a parent of a player involved in the SPLL program, I understand that promoting a
safe and positive learning environment is priority number one.
- I understand that SPLL does not tolerate any behavior on the playing field or in the
stands that would hinder the spirit of sportsmanship and cooperation that we are trying
to encourage.
- I agree to honor and uphold the rules of Little League and the decisions of the SPLL
Board of Directors and to familiarize myself with these rules for my and my childs'
benefit.
- I agree to set a high moral and ethical standard for the kids of South Pasadena Little
League to follow.
- I understand that the conduct of any guests brought to any South Pasadena Little
League affiliated event is the responsibility of the adult whose player participates in the
league.
- I agree to interact with other guests and opposing coaches, players, umpires, and
parents with courtesy and respect.
- I (and my guests) agree and understand that the umpire has final discretionary
control over the game and agree to refrain from abusive dissent and/or verbal or
physical altercations.
- I understand that I (and my guests) may be ejected from the game/park for behavior
that does not adhere to the principle of providing a safe and positive environment for the
kids. Such behavior will encompass: altercations with the umpire, coaches, families, or
any other personnel on the playing field or at the park.
- I understand that the use of any abusive language, profanity or any threatening
behavior will not be tolerated at any SPLL affiliated event and may result in my
immediate ejection from the area and possible banishment from future SPLL affiliated
events subject to the SPLL Board.
- I agree that all disputes will be resolved discreetly through the proper channels, and
not on the field.
- I understand that SPLL embraces tolerance. I will ensure that my player treat other
players, coaches, officials and spectators with respect regardless of race, creed, color,
gender or ability.
Failure to Comply with these rules may result in a player, parent, or guest being asked
to leave the premises and could result in the forfeiture of the game. Serious or repeated
offenses could result in suspension from the league.

Coaches Code of Conduct
Our teams strive to build self-esteem, good sportsmanship, ethics, and positive character
growth. In doing so, it is essential that both coaches & parents demonstrate the core principles
of respect, responsibility, fairness, and good citizenship.
As a coach (including any coach participating in a South Pasadena Little League event), I
hereby pledge:
Sportsmanship
- I will promote good sportsmanship, teach good baseball/softball skills, and have fun in
the process.
- I realize, accept and will practice the principle that a team’s reputation is built not only on
its playing ability, but also on its sportsmanship, courtesy and manners.
- I understand that physical or verbal abuse of an official, coach, player, or spectator,
including obscene gestures, will not be tolerated and that the offender may be removed
from the fields at the discretion of an umpire or SPLL board member.
- I understand coaches will refrain from complaining about perceived bad calls to players
and fans.
- I understand all discussions will be held in conversational tones. Under no
circumstances will a coach, fan, or player yell at an umpire, coach, fan, or player. The
lone exception to this rule is when a coach or player shouts to another coach or
teammate during the course of a play as part of that play.
- I understand profanity is expressly forbidden at all times.
